Sandwich, incorporated in 1637, is the oldest town on Cape Cod. It was once famous for the Sandwich Glass Company, which produced decorative pressed glass from 1825 to 1888.

Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod, and it rewards more than a drive-through. A few places worth your time:
Sandwich takes in historic Sandwich Village, East Sandwich along 6A, and Forestdale inland. We serve all three from Bourne.
A 1,350-foot plank walkway over Mill Creek and the salt marsh out to Town Neck Beach. Hurricane Bob destroyed the old one in 1991; residents rebuilt it by buying engraved planks, and you can still read the names underfoot on the way out.
About 100 acres of gardens and wooded trails, plus a vintage automobile collection housed on the grounds. The rhododendrons in late spring are the reason people come back.
The town built its name on pressed glass in the 1800s. The museum pairs the town history collection with live glassblowing demonstrations — short, and genuinely worth catching.
Canal-side beach and a well-used fishing pier at the mouth of the Cape Cod Canal, popular for stripers and blues. Open year-round, sunrise to sunset.
